Coral Green is pleased to present the opening of our spring exhibitions: Life Within Shadow, 2nd Iteration by Sukanya Mani and Black Hole Avoidance Protocol by Janice Wallace. The show opens with a public reception from 4-6pm on Saturday, April 13, 2024. We are excited to share the work of these St. Louis-based artists as part of Coral Green’s inaugural 2023-2024 exhibition season. Life Within Shadow, 2nd Iteration and Black Hole Avoidance Protocol are supported in part by the Regional Arts Commission.

Sukanya Mani is a St Louis-based multidisciplinary artist who was raised in India. Through installation, craft making, performance and video, the artist records, processes and responds to society’s gaze on women’s realities. Mani’s work fuses feminist art praxis (the process of moving from feminist values into actions based on those values through choice, education, and empowerment) with conceptual art installation, performance, and found objects.

Janice Wallace currently works in printmaking and mixed media. She has been involved in the arts community in St. Louis for more than 20 years. She holds a BFA in Printmaking from the Kansas City Art Institute. Wallace's work in concept and process is about expansion, growth, and a search for comfort in disorder. In the real world we are constantly confronted with disarray on many fronts. Janice's work is fueled by and reflects dystopian narratives. It is her response to the continuum of order and disorder, and to unknowing the outcome of calamity.
